Is there an ATM on Nusa Lembongan?

Yes there is now an ATM on Lembongan, however it only takes Mastercards and it doesn't always work!! Best bet is bring enough cash over with you from Bali for the duration of your stay. Most places on the island operate on a cash only basis, though a few accept credit cards. For last minute withdrawals, there is a handy atm at the Sanur Dunkin Donuts on the way down to the harbour. From the Permata bank atm you can even withdraw IDR3,000,000 in one transaction.

Is there a doctor on the island?

There are a few doctors on Nusa Lembongan, many of whom will do hotel visits, and a good general clinic in Jungutbatu village with an onsite dispensary. For more serious conditions, patients will be sent to Bali.

Is there malaria on Nusa Lembongan?

You will be happy to hear that there is no malaria on Lembongan, so anti malarials are not necessary.

Can you walk around the island?

Various roads connect tourists with all the major sights and attractions. To walk from the Secret Garden to the Mangroves will take approximately 45-50mins. There is also a scenic walk from the bungalows to Mushroom Beach, along the seafront, which will take about 45minutes. If the thought of walking in the heat has you breaking into a sweat, you may prefer to rent a motorbike or bicycle instead. In one day, you could easily tour the island and cross over to the smaller island of Nusa Ceningan too.

How much does it cost to rent a motorbike or bicycle on Lembongan?

A day's hire normally costs IDR70,000 for a motorbike and IDR 30,000 for a bicycle. Motorbike hire includes a full tank of fuel and you are not expected to refill it at the end of the day. If you are staying at the Secret Garden, just ask any of our staff who will be happy to rent you their scooters.

Should I bring my surfboard or rent one on the island?

This is a very personal decision and depends upon many factors including how long you plan to stay, your daily budget and, no doubt, how heavy your board is!! There are a few places along the beach in Jungutbatu village which rent surf boards and rental fees are often around IDR50,000 an hour, depending on how good you are at negotiating. The boards are generally in good shape and a selection of sizes and styles are on offer, including long boards, boogie boards and paddle boards. Be aware that often you will be charged extra to take your surfboard on the boats over to Lembongan, though this is normally only a couple of dollars at the most.

Is Lembongan a good place for children?

Nusa Lembongan is a great place to bring children of all ages. It's a very safe island and the locals adore children. The mangroves is a fun place to take small children, as the water is perfect for paddling and the small but pretty beach is clean and safe. Gondola style boat trips around the mangroves also make for a fun way to spend a few hours. For older children, snorkelling trips are a lot of fun.
